The Finnish Lapphund Club of Canada is a group of Lapphund enthusiasts dedicated to the healthy promotion of the breed. The club objectives as stated in our Constitution are:
  • to encourage and promote the breeding of purebred Finnish Lapphunds and do all possible to bring their natural qualities to the forefront
  • to encourage the organization of local Finnish Lapphund Clubs in those locations where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet requirements of the Canadian Kennel Club.
  • to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the Canadian Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Finnish Lapphunds shall be judged.
  • to do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and encourage sportsmanlike conduct at dog events, such as shows, trials, tests, and clinics.
  • to conduct sanctioned and approved events under the rules of the Canadian Kennel Club and to abide by the principles of the Canadian Kennel Club Code of Ethics.
  • that the club operates on a non-profit basis. Any resulting surplus shall not be used to the benefit of any member of the club.
  • that the members of the club shall adopt and may from time to time revise such by-laws as may be required to carry out these objectives.
  • that the club encourages all members to be responsible owners, promoting the welfare of the breed and a willingness to share information honestly.
